Dual Quad Question

Dual Quad Question
Hello, I do not own a Corvette but recently aquired a dual quad setup that has carter afb airhorn carbs stamped 6-1518. I was told they were possibly from an 64 or 65 Corvette. I was wondering if anyone here could confirm.I am looking to sell it and want to make sure I don't misrepresent what I have. Thanks.

Carb question
The 1518 air horn casting was used on various 1X4 carbs in 1960, 1961 & 1962 for passenger cars. You should also check the bowl (or main body) number to make sure what you have. In 1960, the bowl number should be 0-1376, 1961 it should be 0-1412 and 1962 it should be 0-1466 very early or 0-1481 all others.

As you're probably aware, that setup (manifold and carburetors) is 100% aftermarket parts; the factory 2x4 setup used a Winters-cast GM manifold and WCFB carburetors. No factory 2x4 setup ever used the later AFB carburetors.

Thanks FuelieDave they are stamped 0-1552 and 0-1481.
JohnZ and 62 Corvette obviously the manifold is aftermarket... And you may find this link interesting http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/cor...olet-corvette/
Solid Axle Guy No SHE did not pay too much for it but thanks for the concern.

"Carburetor
Two Carter AFB carburetors were used on the 300hp/Powerglide automatic Corvettes in 1964.
Type: 3460 S, used through September 1963
Type: 3720 S, SA* (used after depletion of 3460 stock.SA was used from 11/63 through 11/64)"
That says two DIFFERENT AFB's were used (one at a time, 1x4) on the 300hp L-75 engine; no Corvette ever had a 2x4 intake with AFB's.

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL 56-61 Vettes with the 2x4 option, and 56-57 pass cars with 2x4, used ONLY Carter WCFB. PERIOD!
BUT, with that said, someone (EELCO) made a thin adapter plate specifically for the small block 2x4 manifold to adapt AFB carbs. The adapters offset the carbs and the 4 holes were at angles---------not straight down. I've seen a couple in my lifetime, and rebuilt a pair of the AFBs for a friend's setup.
Next, the 62-64 409 2x4 engines (and the 63 Z11) did in fact use AFB carbs. But those would not, and could not be fitted to a small block 2x4 intake.
Almost everyday I read some stuff on this and a couple of other forums I visit, that almost blows my mind. I'm amazed at the bogus stuff that people try to pass off. Some of them just don't know because they have been misinformed, and some are know-it-alls that refuse to acknowledge that they don't know what they are talking about!

I didn't buy the setup advertised as corevette parts, I picked it up at a swap for $400 at a swap meet for my 57 Chevy. I now have different plans. My inquiry was made because somebody mentioned that they thought maybe they could have been off of a Corvette which I fully admit I know nothing about, I am Not a corevette person. My inquiry was to see if what this person said held any water. If the parts, any piece of if, I have would have meant anything to anyone with a Corvette I would have hoped to offer it to someone looking for the correct part for their car. I have given away parts to people who needed it just to make their car complete. I believe in classic car folks helping each other out with what they need. Thanks for the info, I'll just bring it to the next swap in town for non corevette folks LOL
