Default 454 Engine

I was emphatically told by a retired doctor that he owns a 1967 corvette, that he bought new and still has it, that came with a 454 engine. I told him that 427ci engines were the largest that came from factory in 1967 corvette. He said that there were just a few with 454ci engines came out. Can anyone confirm this? I think he's a little bit of a BSter and really don't even think he has a corvette, as he told me it is on loan to the Bowling Green corvette museum.

454 did not come out until the 1970 model year. and I think it was not until mid production. I guess his car is made out of metal too

I think your perception of the Dr as a BS artist is probably correct. No 454's in 67 and no such car on display at the Museum.

Good thing that Doctor is retired. I would not want to be dependent upon his memory and skills.

Didn't happen.

My wife's aunt is absolutely positive that she got a brand new Ford Mustang when they were introduced in 1954.

Must be a lower GI specialist. If he's a doctor at all.

Ask to see the car. Then look at the engine pad and take down the numbers. Also the cylinder case casting number and date. That should tell the story of what he has and if it is original to the car.

Hopefully you don't find a 327/300 HP engine sitting in there when you look.

Brings up something - What does one call a doctor/ lower GI specialist if he doesn't know GM facts from the hole in the lower GI?

This is why I NEVER rely on owners word of mouth. Sometimes they forget, are confused or lie. Paper work real paperwork.

I wonder if he was ever sued for malpractice regarding botched reversals of cranio-rectal inversions.

Ask him for the car's location in the museum. Tell him one of your Corvette friends will go up there to check it out for him for free.
