Default 1962 aftermarket fuel pump source

I am looking for a aftermarket fuel pump source for a 1962. The original pump was an AC 4656. Doe anyone have a source that has worked for you? I have tried a couple of local parts houses with no success.

Thank you,
Rick

Is the logo important to you? Paragon sells a replacement that they say looks nearly identical to the original 4656. They also list (though it says "call for availability" or something like that) a rebuilt original.

Corvette Central, Zip, any of the big vendors. Also try Harol Gould, he advertises in Hemmings. He's been a pump rebuilder for many years and has tons of parts so he can put a pump together correctly.

Or go to NAPA or the like and get an AirTek replacement pump for a small block Chevy. They are plentiful. Avoid Chinesium brands.....they can be over-pressured and the actuator arm pins can "walk" loose...

Solid advice. I'd say most if not all the flaps will get you an airtek

Rick,

You do know that you can rebuild your old 4656 pump, right? The rebuild kit is cheap and only takes a few minutes. An original 4656 core alone is probably worth over $150. The 4657 pump is the exact same configuration and will interchange, It has some minor casting differences that identify it as a 4657 rather than a 4656, but they are way less expensive.

I assumed since he said no parts house could supply his pump that he was looking for an original replacement; because he doesn't have an original already Nearly any of them will have an aftermarket knock-off. Of course, if he has an original a rebuild is a cheap and viable option...

Airtex looks very similar to the original. I use them in all my cars and I sell them in my store.

Thank you to all who responded. I don't have an original AC 4656 and will try the AIRTEX 4656. It appears from the photo's to have the correct index for the inlet and outlet. I purchased a replacement from one of the major corvette parts suppliers for my 1960 a year ago and discovered it was indexed incorrectly. They were good about returning it and sending a replacement. I don't want to go thru this again. It used to be that you could index the old AC pumps by removing the screws which hold the bottom bowl, but the new pumps have self tapping screws and I am afraid that it would leak if I made the attempt to orient it correctly.

Thank you all again.

Rick
