spare tire

Time for " another survey ".
Do the math. Fifty pound spare or two hundred plus dollar tow.
Nothing I like better than sitting by the side of the road looking like a dummy that can't change a tire on an old car. Others have no idea that you spent 30 plus on a toy but could not afford a twenty dollar spare to get you home. As I don't have a smart phone to play games or search the net I have several spares waiting for wheel tubs. Don't forget the blanket so your " touring clothes " don't get soiled. There is also the chance to meet officer friendly. Most are drawn to old cars like a magnet. ( then comes the .. do you know anyone else around with one of these things conversation ) They meet thousands of people. If your lucky he is a gear head . I know this angle works !

No spare-I'll call and get flat bedded to the closest service station. (to old and lazy) I'm not crawling under my car on some highway and getting hit.

I carry regular spares for both of my C1s. In all the years I have owned them I never had to use them.
However, with my '86 coupe I got a flat once due to a good sized nail and was glad I had a spare.

I've spent a few hours looking for a used s-10 spare but never found one. I wouldn't mine buying a new one, (if available). If anyone knows a source, I and I'm sure allot of guys would appreciate it. Thankyou for the effort....

I was planning a road trip to the NCM last year (solo) to meet a friend picking up his C7. I have a spare tire and a complete set of duplicate tools in my trunk to cover just about anything repairable.
NCM ended up closing for his delivery week so I didn't make the trip, but now he has ordered a 2015 model and will be going this year.
I'm not anxious to change a tire on the side of the road but I would rather do that than sit and wait.

Never carried one in my 66, or a tub for that matter. They're a real PITA! Space savers will fit under the deck lid of a rdstr, even with the top down. C1s are better for access and you don't even notice that they're under there. My 62's had one since day one.

I used to carry a stock spare until I measured my tires and noticed the spare was a 1 1/2" taller than the wheels and tires I'm presently using.
I felt it might hurt the posi should I ever need to use the spare on the rear.
I have a scissors jack out of old Toyota I found at a garage sale and a plugging kit with a battery air pump. I made a Styrofoam cooler to fit in tire tub and also keep my cleaning supplies and tools in there now.
I just lift the cover when I need a cold one.

Just jack up one side of the car, swap front for back, and put spare on the front. That's what you do with a space saver as well. No damage.

I found one on eBay after a search -- the S-10s are the best compact spare. They are stored under the truck bed usually and away from most of the UV light...that's what's in my tub and it closes all the way -- in fact I used some foam padding so it didn't shift around under there!
