Shortening Defroster Cable
Guys,
I have an older Vintage Air set up in my 65. Last year I realized that the defroster was not working right because the cable is to long. Has anyone had any luck shortening cables? Is there some kind of special tool or a company that sells shorter cables?
Thanks,
Larry

I haven't, but here's my idea...
Measure and mark the length you need.
Get a small tubing cutter to cut the outer sheath and then you can cut the inner wire...you might ruin the tubing cutter cause the outer sheath is harder than intended material...then again, you might find a cutter that will cut the harder stuff...

This is an article to make cables for C-1 . Probably similar for a C-2.

Thanks, Don. That is what I was looking for. My main concern was cutting the wire and forming the loop on the end. I thought somewhere I read that there was a special tool for this purpose. However, this method should work fine.

The whole time I had trouble with the heater cables in my Chevelle my dad would remind me that the auto parts store he worked at in high school in the early 70's would make them on the spot in any length you wanted. They had the special tooling to do so. But it seems you can't find anyone anymore that has one.
