I wonder how this car would fare in Benchmark or Survivor judging? With an award or two, perhaps the seller could fetch his price.

the car you seen at Bloomington was number 29, not 596. as for 29 being rough you have to remember it came to Bloomington in a completely unrestored state. no attempt was made to detail the car or even get the car to run before it was brought to the auction. driver seat was ripped and carpeting was poor, but items like the side curtains were in excellent shape. car was a repaint and was probably painted about 1960 when the front left fender was replaced.

Another copper color 55 WOW! I never seen another one and many never new 55 could come copper color. When I found my 55 and started to show it only three times at NCRS , now there are copper 55's coming out of the woods . People have asked me how do I prove mine is original copper because there was only 15 sold, under the soft top lid and behind the trunk cardboard area I never cleaned or repainted those area's to prove it.

Copper car guy.
Csherman,
I agree with your comments.
I looked at the car extensively while it was on a trailer across from the Bloomington show.
Do you remember the owner?
He was more interesting then the car...

If the color is rare, fifty more will be there in short order. It's that money thing. If you completely strip the body it can be painted any color. Even if they didn't like the color a couple extra thousand makes it better. Yellow 58s is another example. Who can you trust in the big dollar arena.
I have read articles about build sheets placed in seat springs. How restorers matched the print, paper, and aged it by spraying water on the springs. Gives it the " original look " , again a bragging factor, err documentation.

Same thing back when NCRS started I never seen a Cascade Green 57, before ,but after it made the cover of NCRS they started to pop up everyplace.
My 57 also was a FI, PW, PT, PG, 250HP original car that back then people said GM never made one.
