Brake Line clip removal on a 1967
Hello,
I am in the middle of replacing the brake lines on my 1967 and need to figure out how to remove the brake line clips holding the front to rear line along the driver side frame rail. The body is still on the car and there is little to no room to get the 1/2" wrench in place. Is there a specialty tool or any work around? Thank you in advance for your responses and help. I've looked all over the web and didn't come up with anything.

To do it the right way, you need to lift the body up...

Try this. extended flange on the socket should get it.
If you're not going to re-use that clip location on the frame, just grab the old brake line and rip it out of the way. Route your new line lower where you can get at it.

I think I used a thin "ignition wrench" (Sears Craftman set) to get to the bolts. I was able to loosen and remove all but one. It was too long to be removed and hit the fiberglass above. For that one, I cut the original clip out ( can't remember what I used……..probably just twisted it with long nosed pliers or used a Dremel) and installed a new one with a thin slot cut into the clip mounting tab so it fit around the bolt that couldn't be removed. When tightened down, the bolt held this clip perfectly.
It takes time and patience to do this job correctly. The biggest issue is having to slightly unbend and then re-bend the rear of this line to fit the rear junction block area. Mine looks no different than if I had lifted the body…………….except for the one clip that had to be slotted.
Good luck.

I did a '66 with all stainless steel lines back in the 80's. It was difficult to run the line from the back, up on jack stands, but I got it done. No real issues removing the old line. And I'm about to repeat this job very soon on a '66. But this time I got non stainless lines so that I could bend them easier, as necessary. And it's always necessary!

1966-1967 Brake Line Clip Removal
I believe removal procedure is the same for both years. I did my 1966 brake line clip removal with the body on. I soaked all clip bolts each day for a week then used a combination of ignition wrenches, 3/8 bolt "extractor " sockets with universal attachment, a small vice grip and A LOT of PATIENCE & DETERMINATION. I was able to reuse all of the original bolt mounting screw holes
