PATINA CORVETTES (old paint)
#501
Cool discussion---I like older paint!
Maybe I missed it----were they thinking of shutting this thread down?
My contribution: 20+ year old lacquer paint. Trust me it's showing it's age, shrinking, some cracks and a couple rub throughs (painted in the barn in the background). Also under hood has some "patina".

Hey Faslane,
Love your vette the way it is. I see your '68 Impala in the garage. I have a friend with a 1967 Caprice 2 door for sale. Original unrestored gold on black. Very nice, bagged with 15" chrome American racing torque thrust D's. $13,500.

If they're going to close this thread I'll throw one more shot of my old 62 in. One re paint in 1980 with Ditzler Tuxedo Black. She's got some chips, nicks and chicken feet but I've grown to like it this way.

Black with a red gut? That's about as cool as it gets. Beautiful '62.

Is somebody talking about closing this thread? Why would someone want to do that? I see nothing but friends sharing stories and photos here. Let's just be civil ok?

This is a great thread, probably needs to be cleaned of the idle chatter, with pics left in tact.

Sounds like a pretty good deal, unfortunately I am cut off (me not my wife) from buying right now. My Impala is 396/325 400turbo 12 bolt 108 k miles, all stock and original paint except wheels and Viking coil overs. I have had it about 20 years, I bought from original owner for $2800, at that time my friends and family thought I was nuts to pay that. lol

All I see is some really great vettes that don't get the recognition that they deserve. I knew that they were there. That's why I started this thread. Just enjoy it, don't shut it down. And share more pics.

I thought I'd throw my 64 Silver coupe in here. The nose has some primer on it but as you can see the Arizona sun did it's best to kill the SATIN SILVER and make it flat.
I never repainted the car. I sold it to an elderly man in Idaho looking for a chance to own his dream. He wanted to totally restore the car and with it being an AZ car, it was perfect for him.
I look back and recall what fun it was driving the patina-laden C2. It still got thumbs up.......I told people who said it was ugly that I bought it because it looked like me, old.

I had a similar 63 when I was discharged from the Air Force in 1969. Bought it in Santa Rosa Ca. from a doctor and drove it back. Silver blue with a 340 motor. It was a great car.

It has been a month now since I sent you the gas door and I have not received the shipping charge from you. It's not about the 6 bucks believe me. Keep it. It's about lack of appreciation for a part a gave you and you not even sending the lousy $6. I hope your "friend" gets use of the door.

Noooo Tom, it's a matter of I FORGOT. I will put that in the mail Monday. And yes I do appreciate the gas door and yes I thought I had already thanked you. Yes my friend has already gotten his.
Bro, don't be so quick to judge.

I am not quick to judge. I sent you my address twice. The second time was two weeks ago. If it mattered you would have done it by now. We are done.
Have a nice day.
