Default 54 corvette oil pan

I am using a later 6 cyl engine and would like to see what the original 54 oil pan looks like at the front where it needs to clear the third arm. If somebody could post a shot of the very front section of their stock 54 pan where it is stepped I think it would help with the modifications I need to make to the pan I want to use. Thanks.

I am using a later 235 engine and the curved part of the 3rd arm that attaches to the drag link, when turning left hits the pan in the left front corner after 1 complete turn of the steering wheel. I had to fabricate some motor and may have the motor a little to far forward, or perhaps a wrong third arm off a different model chevy? When you get a chance could you see if the third arm clears on a hard left turn? Thanks

There are, as far as I know, only two third arms which fit that early cross member and they are readily identifiable.

If yours has the large end for the bearing on the 3rd arm support, you've got a correct Corvette third arm (and support). The passenger car third arm has a small end and rides on a bushing instead of a bearing.

I think the clearance problem you have is due entirely to the use of a passenger car oil pan.

Look closely at the original oil pan on my car and you'll see there are no marks from contact with the 3rd arm.

couple items - the 53, 53, 55 third arm support is specific
The drag link is also specific
The oil pan is also specific
If you need an oil pan made - Brett Henderson / Vette Daddy can make you one. (for a nomial fee)
