I added the boomerangs to my '63 and also plug wires -- never removed the starter.
Its fiddly as all hell but doable...

These pictures were very helpful. Were the boomerang shields used on C1's specifically 58?

Any C1 or C2 Factory-equipped with a radio got the complete ignition shielding system, which included the lower "boomerang" shields.

My 59 does not have the boomerang shields, just checked the AIM and they do not appear on the shielding page. I don't recall ever seeing them on any other C-1 either. As far as I know , 63 was the first year for them.
