Chris you continue to amaze me at the level of detail you go into with these cars. When someone receives one of your builds they are most certainly getting qualiy and that is something for you to be proud of. Things are finally loosening up here in FL. Let me know when that 67 is ready for a test drive. I volunteer for "shotgun".

Put tape on the back side of the antenna hole, then start glassing the hole in with your fiberglass and resin. After the first two pieces dry, remove tape and glass the back side/underside of the roof or deck panel. Then continue to put in 1-2 layers at a time until level with the deck/roof. Let the fiberglass cure for a week or two...roll it outside on nice sunny days. Then, grind a small void and backfill with evercoat 870. If you do it correctly and let the materials have a good amount of cure time, the repair will not show through the paint.

Thanks for the info!!
I have now used the el cheapo hidden antenna from crutchfield on 4 cars and I am always amazed at how well they work. I get better signal with the hidden antenna than I have with any exterior mounted unit. I place the antenna on top of the heater/ac box behind the glove box.

Progress as of 5/01/15
I went through about fifty 80 grit DA discs this week. Fun! Both quarters are officially off, which took about 4 hours a piece slowly working them with a heat gun. After scraping and sanding the paint off of two cars in the last week and removing the quarter panels and parking lamp panel from this car, my hands feel like they are going to fall off!
I am not sure what the pink filler is on the hood, but it is not on any other parts of the car. It is about damn near impossible to sand off. However, it must come off because the hood had bubbles and they go all the way down to the fiberglass. Not sure if you can see them in the last photo, but when i sand through all of the paint, primer, and 3 layers of filler on the hood there are bare spots on the hood where the bubbles were showing in the paint. The green filler smells terrible even with a high quality mask on. Smells like cheap wood filler...really odd!

Chris :
As someone who bought a 67 that looked good from the curb. I knew there were skeletons in the closet (X 9 sec race car) .
I admire your transparency on the purchase. We type "A" enthusiast don't want to say" "I paid too much".... but Dive in .... start repairs to make it better . I ended up replacing it's front end Sermersheim because of the 1 inch thick (Pink) Filler that rubbed the front tire and replacement section from a earlier White glass front end. While writing this, I feel the Itch on my arms and eyes from last night work to mod the deck lid , and rest assured I'm not the only one with this mental illness. You keep up the great post's ..It makes me feel better ...... Respectfully Grant

I try to be transparent and I always provide full build albums. I would not buy a restomod or restoration unless the seller/builder did the same.

This is definitely the ugly stage of the build. The point where all most people see is a piece of garbage. However, in another two weeks that will all change. Only people like us could find beauty in a car during this stage of restoration.

I feel like I am finally making some progress on stripping the paint. I hope to have it more or less completely stripped by the end of the week. I found that whoever painted it last sprayed a crap ton of filler primer directly onto the bare fiberglass and filler in order to make short work of the paint job. The heavy sand marks were showing through the paint since the filler primer shrank in the hot South Alabama/North Florida sun.

05/08/15 Update
For only 10 days of work thus far on the car, I have to say that I am really pleased with the progress I have made.
New wide rear quarters are officially installed. These are not GTS quarters, BTW! I will never use their ill fitting 900 garbage quarter panels again. I didn't even need to use clamps on the upper portions of these quarters, just panel tape!
Stage 2 of antenna hole delete! I decided to fill in a bit of the void with 3m panel bond. Next I will top coat with evercoat 870. This should ensure that no matter how long it sits in the hot sun, it will never swell under the paint.

John is a great guy. Met him through SRIII at Carlisle about six years ago. His yellow car is a piece of art. Lots of one only pieces he created for that beast.

Chris, is this the 680 hp LSX engine offered by Southern Performance with the T56 mag trans? How many miles does the car have since the build?
