You mentioned the Dakota gauges were coming out. Were you planning on selling them? I might be interested.

Cool. I'm in no rush. Have not even started mine yet.

5 hours today block sanding and starting to fill and rebuild the lines on the front end. Want to know what fenders looks like after someone dogs them out with a DA sander and a low grit paper? Well, here ya go....just a few low spots to fill! I am by no means an expert at bodywork, so this is probably going to take me about 5 times longer than a pro to fix. I guess now I know why the body had so much filler primer!!! However, I don't think that is the correct fix since sand marks were showing through the paint. I am going to work high quality lightweight filler into the low spots and keep sanding until level. Then, I will coat with more epoxy primer followed by slick sand. I still have to sand the paint off the cowl and hood surround, which i am dreading!

I don't brag much, because I think I'm an amateur at body work, but I have to say, I think I did a pretty darn good job at rebuilding the lines on the finders. 24 hours of labor, sanding and filling...sanding and filling..over and over. This is only epoxy primer. No filler primer yet.

I haven't ever tried much body work. Mostly painting, but I can imagine that it would be very difficult to fill and sand those fenders, maintaining the peaks in a straight line. Your lines look very good!

Keep up the good work, 65silververt!

I separated the body from the chassis today. All went pretty well until i realized I had forgotten to unhook the transmission wires. Nothing like reaching under a dangling body to disconnect a few plugs.
I'm still waiting on my Nuair body dolly to arrive. It was supposed to have shipped 10 days ago, but it still hasn't shown up. Pretty annoying!
I have the monster truck casters on the current dolly, which is why it is sitting so high off the ground.

Default Gas Tank

What brand/kind of gas tank did they use?

The chassis was filthy, so I gave it a much needed bath. Once the body is gone to paint, I will start detailing the chassis and dressing up the engine.

I am not sure what brand the gas tank is. I don't see any stickers or stamps.
I would recommend Rick's stainless tanks or Rock Valley

I have yet to take a mid year vette apart and not find at least one nest either in the birdcage or frame. Typically, I find one in the birdcage and one in the frame. This one was in the drivers hinge pillar. I did not see it till I removed the lower door hinge.

Still a ton of work to do in the jambs and Louver panels, but it's slowly getting better.

Default Great Tools

Hay Chris I have found a great tool to work jams and louvers: Its called a Finger, a limb of the human body and a type of digit, an organ of manipulation and sensation found on the hands of humans and other primates. Use them till a red thick substance appears, at which time you will know they need to rest. Been there done that and got the t-shirt.
Seriously, your work and patience is a inspiration to all us DIYers!

Haha! Yeah, my fingers have been bleeding for a week now. I actually had to wrap them in medical tape so I could continue. My hands have started to go numb at night again, so I'm going to pass most of the remaining work off to the painter.
