How to: C2 body removal
I have a Body Dolly showing up today so my next project is to remove the body from the frame of the car in my Avatar. I know that I was going to get it running and just drive it but man I can't bring myself to just slap it together and drive it knowing that the frame is so crusty.
So please school me on the procedure of removing the body of my 1966 427 coupe. I already removed engine and trans. What next?

This may seem obvious but TAKE YOUR TIME. Go slowly. You'll want to get a couple friends to help. Not just to lift it (if you are not using a sling) but to have eyes everywhere as the body comes up.
It's easy to miss a connection.
But the truth is - it's not that hard to do. Just have to be organized.

I have a set of body lift straps coming in the mail. Please inform me how to use these so I don't screw something up? Where to position the straps, do I use my engine hoist? This is the part that worries me. I don't want to hurt the body.

If the car has everything still inside, get 8 or 10 friends to help you lift the body off, bring them back when you get ready to "drop" it back on...
Buy the afterwards...

But if I can just use my engine lift I won't need to rely on anybody. It's hard to organize that many people.

You can use your engine hoist just fine to lift the body once you get the strap thing worked out. It still helps to have an extra set of hands to pump the hoist while you are looking for anything hanging up and to guide the lower rear fenders past the rear body mounts.

I had a body dolly delivered to me from San Diego. Forgot the persons screen name, sorry but thank you. I am buying some straps from C2 Husker, thank you. I will be using my Harbor Freight Engine Hoist, it has never let me down yet. Once I have everything in order I will start taking it apart. This should work.

Engine Hoist will work just fine. See picture, little out of balance but as you can see a 2000lb hoist will get the job done. I put a jack stand under the core support as it was a little nose heavy.

I have an engine hoist so that is an option but my plan is to use eye bolts that I installed in my ceiling joists above the car. Currently I have my replacement frame suspended on these. With 4 support points pulling I think it will lift off easy enough and it can stay suspended Up and out of the way till I need it again.
