Default Who was Charlie Thomas and anyone know anything about this 63 air coupe?

It sold at mecum for $90k and it claims to have factory air. But, being car #600, it can't be a c60 option coupe. It is also a 300 hp car and chev apparently didn't put air in the early cars above 250 hp.

The reason I ask is I have an early coupe from the same week with factory air. It was supposed to be a prototype and run with a number of other cars. Maybe there is something to the myth.

"Factory" air could also have been added later including the center vent especially in Texas!

Charlie Thomas was a well known car dealer in the Houston Texas area. I believe he also used to own the Houston Rockets but I could be wrong about that.

That's the Charlie Thomas I know of. Believe they sold several of his cars at the recent Mecum Auction in Houston

I think you brought up your early 63 AC car here before. Did you go back and check the dates on the various hoses, compressor, STV, expansion valve, evaporator, and other AC components?? I though I remembered that many of the dates were later than the car build, but I can't remember anymore. That should help to authenticate or disprove.
