If you go to the Georgetown Loop and ask for a cab ride in the Shay (previously owned by Westside Lumber), they may say "Hop aboard" and never even take your tickets. (At least they did for me and my wife.)
If you ride on the Santa Fe Southern, they may let you sit in the Fireman's seat of the GP7/9 while they switch the beer reefers out to the main line siding for pick-up while everyone else is having lunch. (At least they did for me. And here all those people though I was "driving" the train. Note that this was after we collided with the pick-up truck at the intersection and they took on boards eveyone's names as witnesses. Fun stuff!)

I got all excited, I saw an ad for Nevada Northern Railroad, words to the effect of "Be the engineer for a weekend, $1250" or something like that. I had my bag packed and truck gassed up, then read the fine print.
They wanted ME to pay THEM!

Have ridden in cabs so am aware of this.

Geez it is getting easier and easier to start a riot on here.
Great shot and for a train at speed and a car motionless even better. I really like it. Gorgeous car and a very nicely restored train.
