I once saw an original owner 54 that was purchased in 55 I believe in Maryland. This was about twenty five years ago and I've since forgotten how many miles it had, but it was less than 20,000 and the car looked simply incredible.

On a car that needs restored....miles are irrelevant.

Enjoy your toy and have fun.

For what it's worth, a car just before yours (#3570) is also blue.

Yeah I tell myself all my car purchases are for the wife too...

The only problem is that she's starting to believe it...

There was a posting a couple years ago that someone had provided a formula for the tach reading, comparing it to a mileage reading of either 55,000 miles or 155,000 miles, tire size etc. Helped me to put that question to rest in my mind on the actual mileage of my car. Good Luck and post more photos of the engine compartment.....what are the numbers off of the engine block. So many of the old stovebolts were jerked out in favor of a V-8 when they were available hence any true survivor with the factory 6 is a great find!!!

Thanks John, the reading on the tach is 215704

The seller told me the hub caps were special option. My friend/seller said they are original to this car. Is it possible because it was built so late in 54.?

Default Wheel Covers aka Hub Caps

Not sure but they probably were. Some of the tri-5 guys will pipe up but, as memory serves those hub caps were an option on the '54 passenger cars and were carried over to the 55's. Great find BTW.

Good Luck

The hubcaps would be an over the counter item. Not factory issue.

That is consistent with a car which has ~81K miles on it.

GM offered two accessory from the original factory wheels or hub cap ,your S/S wire wheel hub caps and these real wire wheels. Many dealers added ether giving the Corvette or Car a more sporty look.

The gentleman I bought the car from owned a corvette repair shop for over 50 years. He has a lot of corvette parts in his buildings. He does have 1 more 54 for sale locally. The other 54 is white.

You were fortunate to get as much trim as you did. Good for you!

The CHEVROLET side script is NOT a Corvette item. Those are replacement parts and are not the same. The mounting pins are in different places.

The correct CHEVROLET side script is available.

Congrats on a nice project car.
