350 Crate Engine Valve Cover Breather
I got a 350 crate engine I am installing in my '64. The best I can tell, the valve cover openings are 15/16". I can't find crap to fit them in breathers or grommets. Everything is made for 3/4", 1", or 1 1/4" openings.
The GM Performance engine I bought is apparently their "best seller" so I was wondering if anybody else had this problem.

I am not to sure on that 15/16" measurement.
Here is one that will make more sense:
http://www.jegs.com/i/Chevrolet-Perf...31218/10002/-1
2.750'' outside diameter x 1.50'' tall with .750'' nipple
Used on Chevrolet Performance Fast Burn 385, ZZ4 and 350 engines.

I had the same problem when I threw a set of C-4 valve cover on 1975 400 SBC. The holes are some odd size, try some early 1990's Chevy grommets.

I found a breather with a with a 1/2" base at my local Pep Boys in the speed shop aisle (it was a Moroso I think). Also found the correct grommet in the "Help" aisle. I may have the part number in my desk at work if you need it.

I just bought a set of finned corvette valve covers with flush mounted breathers they are amazing. You can find them at
Yourcovers.com. The company name is PML. They are in
Los Angeles. Unfortunately they run close to $500.00.
Good luck

Hi Lou64,
I agree with Rob... I bought a set of PML "Corvette" finned valve covers for my car with the holes & grommets on the side of the covers that face the intake manifold. One is for the breather and the other is for the PCV valve. You can also remove one of the grommets when you add oil using a flexible funnel (most crate engines have a "fugly" oil fill cap on the top of one valve cover). In my opinion, the PML valve covers really transform the look of the engine bay and are worth the money.

On my new 350 crate engine I also have valve cover breathers on the left and right side. On the driver's side oil leaks out of the valve cover breather.
What can cause this? Can too much oil cause this to happen?

Put it in what ever side (usually passenger side) that is closest to the rear of the carb where the pcv hose connects.
This is a Sniper EFI, but same principle. Breather on the driver side, pcv valve on the passenger side.

The middle port on the base of the sniper is the same 3/8” nipple as the pcv valve.
There are three nipples on the rear base of the Sniper. From left to right small nipple manifold vacuum (distributor vacuum advance when not using Sniper controlled timing), large nipple manifold vacuum (pcv valve), small nipple ported vacuum (timed advance, not used).
