Default A little off topic...57 chevy

So, I know I've helped some people out here and I've learned a lot of things here too, but what can you guys tell me, in general, about the 57 Chevy?

A lot of cards need to fall into place,I've got some cash saved up, and with my job, F35 avionics, if it lasts there is a reenlist bonus available.

Cards have to fall into place for me to get that, and they very well may, and I'm padding my account before this happens, but stacking the deck is never a bad idea.

I have seen NICE 57 Chevys go for mid 30's. I know 10 years ago they we're 60k cars.. All I'm talking is padding my investment portfolio. It's an opportunity that may not need to be passed. I'm 31 years old and am looking to the future for me.

So with the wealth of knowledge here, what can you guys tell me to look for if that potential spits on my shoes?

I was at the Charlotte auto fair last week and saw a damn nice 57 that could be had for 25k.. He was asking 30 but damn he would have taken 25..

Anyway I've ranted enough, old guys are gettin old, no offense, but jeez this is something that maybe will happen and they are selling.

So what say the forum, good idea or pipe dream and move on?

I'm loyal to my vette, don't worry, but I need to know, at least for my sake!!

Thanks for any info anyway guys..

Default 57 chevy

If you are looking at old cars as investments.....DON'T. Buy Silver or rental property.

If you buy it, do so because you'll enjoy the car, not because you expect to make money.

Four door post cars are the cheapest, 4 door hardtops are cool and rare, then 2 door door hardtops are the most expensive save the Nomad Wagons. Tops and not losing much value, still over 100K for a mint one, is the convertible and I'm lucky to have one.
I've had my 56 convertible for over 50 years and will have it as long as I can drive it.
Mine looks exactly like this one. For some reason I still can't post pics from my PC on the forum?

Are you looking at original in stock condition or hot rods?
They are fun cars with rust issues and suffered from pour panel alignment from new.
On a positive note there's plenty of parts availability except for the extremely rare options.
Reality is as the others have said don't think of them as investments.
I wouldn't count on building your portfolio by diving into the Tri5 Chevy world.

This is almost a five year old post! Obviously he should’ve bought the 57 Chevy back then he definitely would’ve made money. 55 to 57 Chevy‘s are like 63 to 67 Corvette they are timeless and will always be in demand.
