Default Engine parts compatible between 283 & 327 ?

Have a single point distributor 1110946 that I took out of a 1962 327. Any issue with dropping it into a 1958 283 ?

Also gonna put the starter, bellhousing & 4 speed trans from the 327 onto the 283 long as there wouldn't be any issues. Have to look at what kinda trans it is. Its not a T-10. Flywheel has 168 teeth.

These engines are so similar I'm guessing most parts are interchangeable but don't wanna muck anything up so wanted to consult you guys.

Thanks

Everything you mentioned will interchange.

Should bolt right up, be sure to check that there are no differences in the fly weights and springs (mechanical advance) between the two distributors though. I don't have my references here in the house, but I would verify that the advance curve from the 327 is the same as the (older) 283.

Not to worry, it won't be.

Many parts will interchange. The Camaro DZ 302 was a 327 block with a 283 crank in it.

Not really. The DZ 302 was a '69, thus a large journal crank, and they didn't make any large journal 283 engines. So it is a 302 crank.

The '67 302 was a small journal and could use a 283 crank, but didn't since the counterweights were slightly different. Thus it was a 302 crank, also.

But thousands of 302 engines were built, long with 301 engines, using 283 cranks because once you sent them into the shop to be balanced, it didn't matter the cranks were different.

Correct and a pretty rare piece at that.
