Interior color change ????????
Looking for opinions here......................I'm sure there will be a few .
How much, if any, does changing the interior color change the value of a mid year Corvette? Am considering new seat covers and carpet and possibly changing from original black to silver. Exterior color is black and is original.
Thanks

Depends how original the rest of the car is. If it's a NOM its almost a wash. Original engines it's a very big hit.

Black on silver sounds too cool for words. I can't imagine it would hurt resale.

Color change value ?
I just sold a NOM '67 convertible that the tag said was lynndale/black. I changed it to Marina/white and the buyer never flinched. I agree with Nowhere Man, once the original engine is gone, its all over. Of course this is just my humble opinion.
Good Luck

An interior color change is a HUGE hit on a car with judging potential; for others, probably doesn't matter much.

Meh, it isn't an interior color change....it's.....it's an anomalous Trim Tag. Yeah, that's it.
My car has one of those goofy Trim Tags - best thing I ever did to the car.

Please do not get a fake trim tag to match your new color change. This would devalue the car by a much larger margin as it will get the car branded as counterfeit for the poor soul who attempts to get it judged in the future. They may come back on you with a lawsuit to recover losses.
I do not agree with the NOM vs original engine qualifier. There are MANY Corvettes out there with TOP Flight awards with non original motors. It is not a death nail for a car.

A potential buyer may want to discount the value enough to correct the color. It is your choice to go along with that or pass on the sale. As mentioned by John, it is a pretty significant hit in the judging arena. Off the top of my head I believe the NCRS std deduct is 50% in the originality column for every incorrect item not matching the trim tag.

I like reading these old threads and replying for the heck of it. I purchased a 63 in April, Sebring Silver with a 64 colored silver interior. The car looks great. The tag says it was originally Sebring and dark blue. It is numbers matching as far as I can tell (tranny, 327 and trim tag inside all match and appear original). The prior owner that purchased it at an estate sale in 2003 said everything on it was original as far as he knew except the interior. It was silver then too. Judging by the condition, its been silver inside for a really long time. Wish I could find out why.
