Ls1 + T56 in 63 mounting questions
This will be a fairly tame restomod in comparison to others I’ve seen around here, but here is what I’m going for, and what I have to work with.
I have a 1963 SWC that need a lot of help (that will be the topic of many threads in the future )
I figured I’d start with where/how to mount the motor/tranny. I have seen several different motor mount possibilities, but some position the motor in different locations, and rather than order several and try them, I thought I’d ask which ones had people used, if they were doing it over, which ones would they use and why. (I have not yet found this detail in a C2 LSX stock frame thread)
Also related questions, like: do I need to make the transmission cross member removable, to remove the transmission without pulling the motor? (Thinking yes)
Do I need to alter the transmission tunnel for the t56? (also thinking yes, I see someone raised it about ½”)
clearance/position issues with different mounts, like firewall, front accessories, shifter placement/relocation.
I have a complete running driving 98 z28 donor car and can/will take anything of use from it.
I will be using the stock frame (don’t have the $’s for an aftermarket one)
This seems to be the most common adapter mount, reuses one of the holes for both the LS mount, and the SBC mount (6 holes)

and a slightly off set version (7 holes):

and a totally different mount, that is not an adapter to a SBC mount (anyone use these?):
http://www.brphotrods.com/products/6...tte/index.html
and these seem to be the EXACT same thing, at the same price:

and $479 seems a bit much for a set of motor mounts, and a transmission mount and adapter plate, when other motor mounts are under $100
