Default I've done all the searches- 1962 wheels & tires

Anyone with a 1961/62 vette running either one of the following combinations without complications. Torg Thrust II 15x7 with 3.75 back spacing, either 205/75/15 or 205/70/15 tires. All constructive comments would be appreciated. Thanks

I use to run American 200-CP's (the chromed version of the so called "daisy wheel") on my 62, in 15x7 with the 3 3/4" back spacing. I had GR70x15's mounted on them, and normally had no issues. The P225/70R15 is the modern equivalent of the GR70x15.

On occasion, the tires would rub slightly, on the rear fenders. The only it really was an issue though, was on a weekend trip to Pocono Raceway. I had the trunk completely loaded, and I guess the extra weight of a weekends worth of belongings and camping gear, was just enough to cause the tires to hit the fender harder than usual. When we arrived at the track, I had a 1" crack over the left rear wheel opening. Admittedly though, the fender had been previously repaired.

I'm now running P215/70R15's on a set of 15x6 steel wheels, with "dog dish" caps. I loved how the GR70's looked on the 62, and I thought they fit the fenders perfectly, but the 215/70's are a safer bet. I would think you'd have no problem using 205/70's, or even 215/70's.

Here's a pic of the 62 when it had the GR70x15's and the 200-CP's on it. This picture is actually from the trip to Pocono Raceway, when the fender was cracked.

Just so everyone knows, on my car the 15x7 with 3.75 BS Torg Thrust II would not work. Sending the wheels back. There was about one inch between the rim and the rear spring. The wheel without a tire stuck out past the fender. Need bigger back space 4 "(?) and maybe 15x6 wheel. I'm just going back to hubcaps.

You would have to MOUNT the tire on the wheel to see if it would actually fit. It should have been no problem with that combo. You can't tell the way you did it. just sayin.

My 7in rallys are tight to the spring and stick out, but the right size tire is the difference between fitting and not fitting, and your size would/should have.
