Default Mystery Bolt

I found a bolt in my driveway. (Just the one pictured in my hand) Hoping it's not off my 65 vette. Look familiar to anyone? Thanks-- Bill

FOR A FACT....WITHOUT A DOUBT...it is a METRIC BOLT...which is the short bolt by itself with '9.8' on the head...and does not go on your Corvette. It may have fallen off one of your other cars.

AS for the long bolt and nut.....the photo is not good.

I agree with DUB. Unless somebody swapped in a metric bolt onto your '65, it does not belong on it - it was not built with metric bolts.

However, that IS a specialty bolt of some sort, with the tapered shoulder and a 9.8 grade, which about a grade 5 bolt equivalent (hardened, quenched, and tempered).

You might have something there. I changed the blade a couple of weeks ago. I'll look into to it. You might have just saved a life or limb. Thanks

Shoulder bolts are typically used on lifting and lowering mechanisms.
