Default Its time

Left hip/knee is gone and not much they can do for at least a year. Even after surgery I will be screwed up for more than a few more months.

So its time, Automatic Transmission is needed. I am going to take the time to install an LS3 in my 63SWC at the same time so, the question is..... has anyone come across a new Auto Transmission that will fit without hacking the firewall. If not, whats the best option at the moment?

Thanks

The 200-4R is the same size as a Powerglide or a TH-350 so it should fit without cutting up anything. It's a 4-spd overdrive so it would be nice on the highway. I'm not into the LS engines, so I can't tell you if it'd bolt to one of those blocks. I wouldn't doubt that somebody has done it and knows what parts are needed.

I think I have read that the 4l60/65 fit tightly in the tunnel without mods... maybe. If thats true, something like this would make the project a lot easier....

If this is it, you can save a couple grand $$ by buying the package from Summit Racing.

I think you could probably do even better... the GM site is just recommended pricing. They recently had a $500 rebate on top, but it ended Dec '14. I think people where close to 10k on the package which is pretty good for what you get.

So this has grown somewhat since we last talked. I am now doing the SRiii route, 525HP LS3, 4L65E Stage/Level 4, so now I need assistance with a rear end. I see one person here used a Viper Rear End, Others Used newer Vette Rear Ends.

So, I am going to broach a subject which will cause some to cringe..

What about a Straight shaft K9 rear end? Good idea, bad idea , terrible idea, stupid idea, or brilliant?

Also for those knowing the 525HP LS3 what should I do for Gear ratios on the 4L65E and the rear end? John???

I think as a result of this I am going to have one dirty large pile of original 63 Corvette parts to sell. When I say dirty pile I mean I have spares to backup spares!!But I will not do that till I know this is the way I am going for sure.

Well I quickly eliminated solid shaft when I realized that I would have to gouge the driveshaft tunnel to allow for the movement.
