I know of a similar car, very low vin close to 600. The owner is having trouble making up his mind on a restoration path. Was a 340hp car new. EVERYTHING is original, but the short block which was replaced in early 1965 at the dealership. Solid lifter 870 blank pad. Intake, heads, carb, trans, master cylinder are all original. Oh yes, PAINT CODE is SADDLE TAN, interior BLACK.

SANTA BARBARA, CA born when new and still in the area. I am curious how C/F members and you Beggers would approach this car. NCRS or RESTO like this great car.

You have done a great job. to you !!

without any damage.

Jim, I recently bought coupe #1318 that was sitting for 40 years. Bought as an NOM, but a few weeks later the owner called and said he had found the 300 HP original engine. That made it easier for me to decide what to do with the car (stock restoration) which is Black over Saddle leather. I would love to do a build like Brian did, but cannot afford to put that kind of money into it. I guess it depends on what that owner would like to do most with the car. To each his own. Looking at the market lately, even the NOM doesn't seem to hamper the sale or the price of a nice car.

It fit fine thank you! It does take some time and patience to install, we installed it prior to paint, then removed it, and then installed it again once all the finish sanding and buffing was complete. Pre fitting saved having to use the Mallet! Brian

Thats so pretty i would be afraid to drive it, it might get dirty!

You said you built is as driver? if so, first thing after the show, take it for 5 mile drive down a muddy road at 30 MPH to break it in.

That was lot of work to built that, in a relatively short time with that many mods and doing it as clean as it is.

As a side note, if the car seems down on power under throttle at higher RPM, you may want to look at that air inlet over the radiator, i can't tell how many square inches of passage you have at the sharp bend, but it may be restrictive. I would say 8 sq inches cross section is absolute minimum, 10" or 12" would be better.

Doug

Thanks guys, the photo is a bit deceptive, I was very worried about having enough air volume, it actually has 14" square inches of volume through the thinnest part, it breathes very well. I lowered the radiator one inch, removed the hood support bracing, and massaged the front inner hood to gain enough clearance to go over the top of the radiator.
Thanks for weighing in! Brian

I met Brian and checked out the car this afternoon. Brian was very gracious and allowed me inside the ropes to take a closer look. It's an absolutely stunning car.

Wow wish I thought of that pre fitting I would of paid extra to do that didn't take out my windows used old clips have a couple of imperfections on short pieces on bottom of windows like stretch marks on the curves ,and one small ding on straight piece. The body guys did use wooden mallets is that how they should be installed .Afraid to pull it back off one clip has a little wave in it . thanks That's the worst part on my car I took it off to paint in the seams the painter wasn't happy I knew from prior experience to get perfect it had to be done. its hard to notice but I know its there.
