C2 Offset Trailing Arms/Stainless Shims Install
In the process of installing new offset trailing arms on my 66 and have a question on the install of the stainless slotted shims.....need to drill hole in bottom side of boxed area on frame (outside) to allow the use of a large cotter key to go through all the shims to other side of frame. Anyone done this before and can offer suggestions. I did order some 12" HS bits that will hopefully allow me to reach the inside part of frame without hitting the wheel opening fiberglass. I would appreciate anyone's help on this opportunity!

You can take one of the shims and mount it on the outside of the frame rail, put the bolt through the hole, then center the shim and mark the center of the shim cotter pin hole. I hope that makes sense.

Shims
Looks like you are not building an NCRS car. I drilled the holes out and used a stout zip tie to keep the shims in place. I used two for each pocket. Jerry

Slotted shims
Just ordered slotted SS shim kit today to replace two hole steel shims ( trailing arm rebuild installation). Does anyone have any pictures of the correct installation of slotted shims utilizing the retainer cotter pin? Where do you drill the hole? THANKS for any info.

I drilled the holes on my 67...kind of a pain. Nothing fancy...used whatever sized drill bit to allow the cotter pin to fit.
As far as marking the holes, I put a shim in place to use as a guide.
Cheers,
Frank

Look closely and you can see the cotter pin head at about 4:30 from the pivot bolt.
