Default 1957 front parking light assembly

I had to replace one of the front parking light bulbs on my '57. In removing the barrel nuts to remove the bezel I found that the barrel nut screws onto a flat head machine screw inserted from the back of the assembly. Is this the way the stock assemblies are? I tend to think that the previous owner used this method instead of buying a new assembly.

The original has studs on the back of the unit.

Roger,
That is what I thought. One of the previous owners must have drilled out the studs and used machine screws instead. I had a difficult time trying to loosen the screws and and nuts using two screwdrivers as the machine screws were corroded.

I believe the original studs had square heads and were spot welded onto the back of the parking light housing.

Default NOS 57 parking lights.

Attached are some pictures of NOS front parking lights which were bought from GM on 12-28-72.
Much to my surprise the barrel nut studs are held on by tube rivits.

Thanks for the great pictures, Ohiovet. These little details sometimes get lost in the fog of time. By the way, I see your wife lets you put Corvette parts on the kitchen table also.

You are welcome concerning the pictures.
Here is a picture of what you saw on the kitchen table:

Hilborn Injection, good deal so I couldn't pass it up.
Similar to the setup on my 62 Corvette.

My wife loves Corvettes and old parts (like me I hope).

But she still won't let me put my 4900 injection under the glass coffee table.....

She helped me catalog over 150 nos part numbers on the kitchen table.
We left the wheels and big parts in the garage.
