part # for champion iridium spark plugs?
I know Wallmart carries these plugs but I want to buy the plugs that fit my 59 283. Are they all a standard length? Thanks 59 navy

What do you hope to gain here, especially in light of the price of those things?
Just curious.

Mike I'm using recommendations from CF. Seems like Champion had a poor past record but has many present day supports who recommend the improved version. "Long lasting good firing plug" 59 navy

I am not going to try and tell you what not to do but.................

I don't think you will like the results of using those plugs in a point ignition engine. Copper plugs will last for tens of thousands of miles if the fuel and ignition system are operating properly and you don't use leaded fuel.

59 Navy, Mike is correct. Champion does make a great Iridium plug but they don't offer these for the Old Iron engines like the early small blocks.
The Standard Copper Plus is the best bet for early OEM heads and ignition systems.
For stock ignition stay away from Platinum or Double platinum. The platinum plugs take more juice to fire and you need the HEI system for those plugs.
Iridium Plugs will fire at low voltage and last 200,000 miles but I don't think any manufacturer is making them for our old stock corvettes.

What these gents say. Irridium plugs are designed with hard, non-wearing electrodes to last 100,000 miles in new cars to get them through emissions warranties. These cars have high energy ignitin systems and often, very difficult to access spark plugs. In an old style engine, there is NO performance gain over a standard, cheap, copper based spark plug. In an old style engine, you'll want to change any spark plug every 15-30k miles. There is no reason and no gain in going iridium tip in these old engine.s

Another point on ignition systems, if you did upgrade your ignition to a high voltage system like the HEI it is good idea to upgrade your plugs along with it. HEI systems spark at such high voltage that they quickly wear out the standard copper plugs.
As plugs wear the gap increases. Platinum and Iridium plugs reduce that wear factor.
Quickly on a copper plug would be maybe 5,000 miles. In one of these old cars that is what? 5 years use.
