Default Pictures of Prepping For Bloomington Gold

I was getting my '66 coupe ready for the drive to Indy and Bloomington Gold this weekend.

I was using my vintage Sun Engine Performance Analyzer...

...to ensure everything was in order. It gives a nice comparison on the scope between cylinders to see if there's a problem and allows a quick overview of the ignition system in general.

It is a joy to be out there in an old shop, using vintage equipment on vintage cars listing to vintage tunes.

A chance of rain is in the forecast for the drive over Friday, but rain or shine we're driving. Saturday's weather looks almost perfect which will be good for the cruise that night. They're doing one lap around the Indy 500 Motor Speedway before heading out on the cruise. I think it's going to be a hoot.
I'll be parking in the Corvette Forum parking area. Hope to see some other older Corvettes out there.

Im leaving at about 7A tomorrow (Thur). Indy weather forecast is rain 90% Thur, 60% Fri, 50% Sat.

I'm sure it will be clear on Sun for the drive home.

I am so used to every event I go to the last several years being dominated by rain, I just plan for it now.

If anyone is planning on Hershey in the Fall, bring an umbrella. I'm going.

So, you're the guy! But the threat of rain keeps the crowds down.

Hey Thomas, mine may not be as old as yours, but I look forward to seeing you and your Corvette there. If you can, come back to the Forums parking area at 10am on Saturday for a group photo! That is a sweet shop setup you got there.

Dennis, next year is yours 50th Anniversary. You have to go everywhere in that thing, enjoy it and show it off. If you go to Carlisle next year, you will get to park in the special '66 50th birthday section.

Safe Travels Everyone!

Only in America would someone part with four hundred dollars to have their car picked apart by would be " experts " for a piece of colored paper approval. Good luck to you. Just not my idea of Corvette ownership.

Well, it was pouring when I left this AM but by the time I got to Indy it was clear and it was a nice day. Supposed to rain tomorrow but maybe it won't be bad.

I like the IMS much better than the Champaign location. Interested to see how Certification and Survivor look Fri and Sat.

I'll plan on coming back Saturday morning. I see very few Forum Parking hang tags in the parking area. Not many Forum members here I guess. Weather looks to be much dryer today, Saturday, and for the cruise tonight.

Default So when you pull into the event?

Do you turn right or left? For the Patina Car Corral? and is there a convenience tram to bring us in from those distant dirt fields?

WoW! What a picture that is. I wonder how many of those owners will still say "never driven in the rain"?

Thomas, your car looked great in the Corvette Forum parking area. Thanks for driving it in.

Many thanks for the kind words and nice picture! I left the car parked there overnight and got a ride to the hotel from a friend. I tried to get back there in time for the group picture but the entrance line took forever to get in, even though we had passes.

The car cruise Saturday night started single file near the beginning of the back straight of the 500 oval track and we were encouraged by the track officials to nail it! I enter the track at about 20 mph and ripped all 4 gears down the back straight. I got to 110 mph up to turn 3 and ran it at 90. We slowed through turn 4 because everyone was getting pictures opening up on the main straight. That alone made the trip fantastic, rain and all. Once I get home I'll post some pictures.

And this '65 had the best display idea ever... his original window with sticker attached, in a glass case!

PS someone that is there please see if like we can get some detective work on like Mystery motor engine stampings and other it would be fun to see what the so called expnd because of this post, they will probably all leave their hoods closed!

PS Vettebuyer it looks cool and you are at Indy. i would be photobombing everywhere with my car! Pictures like car in front of museum, car on the track, car in the pits, car next to the BorgWarner trophy or whatever they are calling it these days. probably the Home depot-Walmart-Toyota-John Deere-Etc. Trophy with the way sponsorship has worked it's way into our society!

Great pictures. Is that a picture of an Indy "ride" car? That has to be an amazing experience.

Yes, they had 2 cars that were taking people around the track. Looked like fun.
