Midyear Seat Rebuild Question
If you order the replacement "zig-zag" springs as a kit from most of the reproduction suppliers for your midyear (I have a '66 coupe) to rebuild your seat frames you get the springs for the bottoms and the backs. I can see how the bottom springs come out (bend the tabs up to remove and then bend them back down to secure the replacements) but those springs for the backs ... Has anyone done this ? It looks like the end "S" portion of the spring is completely captured in the frame, I could see using a press to secure the new ones but I can't see how to get the old ones out. Your thoughts ?

Go to a good auto upholstery shop. They can repair the springs or sell you ones that are way cheaper then out of a resto catalog
