Default Need advice: Holley Carb 3247

Fellas,
I'm asking for opinions or fact about this Holley 3247. I cannot recall what the suffix "EI" indicates after 3886101. The 1966 NCRS judging manual does not mention "EI". I've heard conflicting stories. Did original Holley 3247 have an "EI" after the 7 numerals?

I am certain it is not a service replacement because it doesn't have 4 digits below the list number.

Ronnie

Hi Ronnie, I asked this very question a couple years ago and got various answers, see this thread at NCRS http://www.ncrs.org/forums/showthrea...ht=holley+3247 which includes a response from John Hinckley (JohnZ here) saying there was no prefix or suffix on original carbs. Another response was that old GM charts did show the suffix. Below are a couple of carbs from 66 big blocks I have owned, both original carbs, one freshly restored. One has the suffix, one doesn't! Most I have seen do have the suffix. I was not deducted anything on my carb with the suffix at an NCRS meet, but as you know judge opinions vary. I have no proven answer to this question but suspect both carbs (suffix or no suffix) are correct.

I've been looking for a correct dated carb for my car. Mine s a service replacement with a 4 code date. It's funny that your carbs are dated the same, 632.
