I'll have to polish up the old panel part I have to try and show what a match it is to Daytona blue. The shade and the level of metallic is pretty well spot- on. I doubt anyone one would know if I didn't admit the paint code. The only major difference I see is that my old lacquer was substantially flatter than a slick new two-stage paint. Which I'm happy to see change.

Dang! I do need to update. Color sand and buff this week I promise- last weekend I froze my tail off trying to fish with some buddies off ft Morgan, AL (confirming I'm no fisherman). This weekend it's family stuff with Valentine's Day BUT while the ladies shopped in Nashville a friend of mine with a 71 took the kids up the extra hour to the corvette museum. Always a good time- my son had never been. The sinkhole was his high point. More car stuff this week I promise.

Not much of an update, but I got the newly dyed silver trim and headliner back in the car. Everything from the shoulders up. Waiting on better weather and free time for the cut and buff. Also a few more interior bits like the kick panels.
I couldn't resist any more and installed the sill plates and rocker moldings. Jumping the gun a little but a Corvette without rocker moldings is hard to stare at. I could use a better set but I sprayed some black paint in the channels and wiped off the bright part with some reducer. They are at least better than ever.
My helper slowed me down, but she's so sweet I can't be angry.
(Also wiping the dash I lost a chunk of vinyl below the radio. Dang it something else to spot in. Well, not before I am done reassembling!)

Great update, Benton, always a pleasure to get your updates!
Hopefully I'll take my princess out this weekend for a cone, but I'm driving.

Well Benton, we all know it takes more time for things then we predict, but your doing real good. Are leaving the shifter in the "long throw" position for her? Dennis

I'll take some photos and upload but generally I'm pleased with the SEM dye. I'm using their adhesion promoter but not any primer and so far dark blue parts are dying silver with just a few coats. I have not done the seats or door panels yet. I may put seat covers and foam on it. I'm not sure yet. I was planning on installing the seat warmers from speedway for my wife. Heck! For me too!

You know I'm not really too broken up about it. I mean, what's another little fix at this point I've got to keep moving the big picture forward. Bear in mind I've taken substantial time off in big chunks since June with family obligations AND really not worked at all on nights and weekends. Only weekdays as my kids permit.

It has to get ugly one more time before it gets pretty. Color sanding has started. I broke down and buffed half the roof. Just couldn't stand the anticipation. More photos in the next few days.
All the little dust particles and few runs in the clear are sanding out - carefully- and beautifully.
I am not trying to sand it to absolutely slick perfection. I'd like to keep the most clear coat possible on it. Remember this is a job that needs to be durable, not a show car...
You guys take it easy!
Only the last photo is buffing- the others are as sanding is progressing.

Tomorrow she's with me. I'll do what I can. Wednesday I'm back at it solo!
I'm using a friends Makita 9227c buffer it's pretty awesome. In all my previous times I was using an air buffer but I'm very happy with this one.

Thank you so much Lou!
Sometimes I wish a dozen or so of you guys could just come over and have a beer while I'm working on this thing. It always seems like there are guys like you hanging out here that would good to hang out with.
