The conversion unit on mine uses a PH8A Fram. That is a Ford filter. Heaven forbid!

MOST, but not all, of the spin on conversions used the same filter which was used on 68-later Chevy engines (68 was the year the switch was made).
My personal choice for ALL of my engines is the longer truck (2qt) filter.

K&N Filters
My 61 has Hooker Headers and it get's a bit crowded when trying to remove a regular oil filter so I went to K&N filters because they have that hex adapter on the bottom and I can remove it with a socket.

Can you post a picture of the sealing gasket on the filter.
There were at least two types of filter conversion kits used.
Some used the Chevy filter as mentioned and some, such as the one on my 61 FI car, uses an 'F' or Chrysler style filter.
Post a picture and I will give you the numbers.

Advanced
It will either be a wix 51060 if there is a bypass in the adapter and it's 13/16" thread. Or it will be a wix 51515 if there is no bypass in the adapter and it's 3/4 thread.
Different companies have made them both ways.

I stopped using the AC filters since they 'down sized' them. So here are the ones I use and the differences.
The PF454 is the replacement for the old PF25, notice how short it is compared to the Wix equivalent, 51069.
The PF1218 is the replacement for the old PF35, the Wix 51061 is the equivalent for the old PF35, without a check valve. I do not believe you need one since the filter is vertical.
The 51060 is the same as the 51061 but with a check valve.
If your conversion kit uses 13/16-16 thread and 3.444" OD gasket then you can use either the 51069 or 51061.
If it uses 3/4-16 thread and gasket OD 2.834" then either use 51515 or the 51068.
PF454, 3" tall
PF1218, 4.375 tall
51069 and 51068, 4.338" tall
51060 and 51515, 5.178" tall
PS. Wix makes for NAPA, they just drop the first digit. 51061 = 1061, 51515 = 1515.
