Default copper washer drum brake cylinder to hose

Is there a need for a copper washer here (64 all drums) ? My rebuild kit came without...

edit: well, I found out by looking in the bag of the other drum cylinder where the copper washer was in ;-)

I looked in my AIM (64) and yes, you do require them, sorry for the confusion.

As long as you don't plan on putting brake fluid in the master cylinder you won't need the copper sealing washers.

Those aren't spare parts; the copper washers ensure a proper seal...their 'soft' nature is why that material is used... You now have a dangerous condition....

I'm not quite sure that's an example of the "scientific method" as it was taught to me, but I'm old.......

Not a scientific method -- an exercise in logic.
Here is the syllogism; with its premises and conclusion:

1. I did a repair on my car and had extra parts,
2. I didn't die in a fiery crash,
3. Therefore the parts aren't necessary !

Perfectly logical ? Right ?

Folks, you not only want the copper washers, you want NEW (previously never compressed) washers for cripe's sake !

AND you can pick them up at your FLAPS for a couple bucks. GM didn't put them on for show. They put them on for purpose.
