Well one thing you can do right off is get an NCRS shipping report based on VIN- that will tell you where, and which dealer, was involved with the initial sale of your Corvette. Then you can contact them if they're still around. I did for my '63 and talked to the dealer still in biz in the same spot in Texas -- the current owner's mother ran the dealership in the 60s... Sometimes that can lead you to the string of owners of your car. Next check the C2 registry for your VIN: www.c2registry.org for more info.

The vin won't tell you anything you don't already know. It was the 18,365th car built for 66 Corvettes and it's a coupe. That's all the deciphering there is.

The trim tag under the glove box will tell you the date, the color, the interior color and type and where the car was built.

And if you shorten Corvette, it's normally "Vette".

He asked for "all information possible"; I presume that means the original selling dealer info...NCRS can decipher that... The C2 registry could lead him to prior owners...

I was discussing deciphering options, etc from the vin like newer cars. He can try to get invoices, shipping reports, window stickers, POP's, and anything else based on the vin, but the numbers won't tell him anything other than year, sequence, and coupe or convertible. He already knows the year and that it's a coupe, thus my statement. His request was rather vague to begin with.

Nice racing action pic. If it still has its roll bar, check for numbers stamped on it. You might be able to get some racing history there.
