Default 67 Fan Blades and Shroud

I believe my fan blades should be 50/50 sitting in the fan shroud. My blades are all the way out of the shroud towards the driver. My corvette is running a little hot!
How do I move the blades more into the shroud? Does someone sell a spacer?
Thanks

What engine do you have. Without a picture I would say you have a wrong fan, and or thermostatic hub. Is there a part number (assuming it's a GM fan) on it anywhere? Is the reinforcing plate between the pulley hub and the fan? Do you know if you have the correct (all fiberglass) fan shroud? Dennis

On my 1967 327/350 HP factory air car, the blades are about 3/4 of the way into the shroud, with only a small amount outside of the shrouded area. Cooling is very good............although I now have a 7-blade GM replacement fan versus the original 5-blade.

Obvious it's not if your fan blades are not where they should Pictures would help. And some part numbers on what you have

Nope. Not if your fan blade is rearward, outside of the shroud; sounds like you have the wrong fan clutch (too short). The stock arrangement has the clutch positioning the fan so the tips of the fan blades are half-in and half-out of the rear of the fan shroud.

If they're rearward of the rear of the shroud, you'll have VERY poor cooling at idle and low speeds.

If it's "factory original" then the fan blades would be mostly inside the shroud. Something changed.

Could be the hub dimension on the water pump, the fan clutch, the fan, or perhaps even the fan shroud (replacement). Pics would be nice. Otherwise, start from the engine face and take measurements out to the WP hub, and to the fan hub. Also from the radiator back to the top edge of the fan shroud.

Have any of the water pump, fan clutch, fan, or radiator shroud been replaced??

Yes. Fan spacers are available from places like Summit Racing Catalog.

I just did this to mine today. I got longer studs and put 3 washers per stud on the water pump then installed the pulley, fan and clutch. Much improved air flow. Shemp

Do you have a reinforcement inside the pulley? If not, the three small point contact areas between the washers and the unreinforced pulley sheet metal will be subject to metal fatigue and cracking.

Wouldn't this throw off your belt alignment?

Either get the correct (longer) length fan clutch, or have a solid spacer machined to go between the pulley and the fan clutch (both sides of the spacer MUST be parallel).

I bought the fan clutch fro LIC. It is the correct #. Why is it not in the shroud enough? IDK. Spacer it is. Thanks. Shemp.

If you can't find one locally, try this place. Spacers available from 1/2" to 2-1/2" thick in 1/4" increments. Complete with bolts. Fits 5/8" shaft.
