The accepted version of New Old Stock, referring to factory parts, new in a box, also often means Nasty Old ****, as back when, factory replacement parts from the dealer was sometimes stuff that wasn't quite right or good enough to put on a production car, but not bad enough to throw out.

I remember buying NOS trim/garnish parts in the '70s for my car (some of which i still have), that had excessive flash, pitting, too long/short, waviness, etc.

The repop '62 grill i recently received for my my '61 car, is MUCH nicer and straighter than the '62 grill i bought from Chev in 1976.
