Default 57 Corvette valve covers question

Did ALL 57 Corvettes with high performance engines (2x4 carb and fuel injection) come with 9 fin valve covers or did some late cars have the 7 fin covers?

Thanks,
Rex

Rex, AFAIK, late '57s came with low script, 7 fin valve covers. I don't know when the change over happened, tho.

Rex, according to my NCRS Judging Manual, fourth edition, dual 4 cars VIN #0001-3900 used 9 rib, 3900-4500 9 or 7 rib, and 4500-end 7 rib. FI is slightly different- VIN 0001-1900 9 rib, 1900-2900 9 rib with cut (for air cleaner clearance), and 2900-end 7 rib. The manual acknowledges that some variations are possible. My '57 FI, #2968, has 9 ribs w/cut. They're probably the very last pair-extremely collectable. Kidding.

Thank Jim and Todd.............................that's exactly what I needed to know.

Jim, our "FI dual air meter project" is still in a holding pattern waiting on the machine shop. Didn't want you to think I had forgotten about you. I'll be in touch.

Know what I found the other day, Rex? A couple of short video clips of your Sunray DX racer! I must have dozed off (it happens). When did you send them?????

Not to worry on the FI project. We'll get it figured out.

Here's a summary I put together on the history of the aluminum valve covers about 14 years ago.

JohnZ, you continue to amaze. You put together a summary "about 14 years ago" and knew where to find it.

If I did anything of interest (on totally uninteresting for that matter) "about 14 years ago", I would have absolutely no recollection of it.

I know what you mean Jim. Almost every time I sit down in my recliner, it casts a spell on me and it's "lights out" for me. I sleep better in the recliner than I do in the bed.

Thanks John. I still say YOU are a walking, talking and breathing "Corvette encclopedia".
