Default Holley Carb 2818 Rebuilder needed.

Well the old Holley 2818 is weeping and spraying gas again from various areas. I have done a couple kit rebuilds but I believe the plates and bowls are not true and square anymore. I seem to get around 3 years out of the carb before its starts leaking again. Who is a great rebuilder that can square everything up again and do a real rebuild/ overhaul? I live in Houston so if there is anyone local that would be great. If not I don't mind shipping the carb off in the mail. Not killing me to drive right now since its brutally hot here. Also now again thinking about why not just put an Edelbrock 1405 AFB on there and be done with the Holley problems. They just seem more reliable for a car that is not daily driver and used on the street. I just don't feel like having to reroute hoses and even maybe have to change the air cleaner to do the swap.

Lars Grimsrud. Ill Pm you his contact info. I would have the stock carb rebuilt and set up for your engine. No need to waste money on something new unless it is going to cost too much to repair your stock carb.

The OP will go to more trouble with new fuel lines some sort of different air cleaner setup, etc.. than a first-rate rebuilt would be..
Chuck Smith is another excellent carb restorer.

Lars and Chuck Smith are both very good. You can't go wrong. Eric Jackson is another good one. He is probably my personal favorite.

And you also end up with extra items on the shelf taking up space that will most likely be tossed if you suddenly pass or have a wife that invades your garage space.

With that said, if you must go aftermarket for any reason, go with a quick fuel, not an edelbrock.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I looked up Eric and called him. Will send him the carb later this week.

Well on the Holley 2818 it looks like where the transfer tube that has the O rings on it goes into the back bowl. Looks like the back bowl at that area has a small stress hairline crack on it.
