Default 66 seat upholstry question

Got the seat track fixed on the driver's seat of my '66 car. I placed these clips to hold the vinyl to the cushion/frame, but they can't possibly be right. So, how does the vinyl at the seat bottom stay afixed to the cushion/frame? And, where do these clips with the thin foam rubber belong (??another project??). I know this is a novice mistake, but I can't recall (and my pictures don't seem to help) how the vinyl stays put. Here are some (embarrassing pictures!) (add: I don't really want to take out the other seat to figure this out, tho' I could, I suppose) thanx steve

Correct of course, but how does the vinyl attach to the frame? Glue? The AIM shows the clips but they don't go where it suggests. Any ideas? thanx. s

Steve - Check your AIM, UPC 1 (seats), sheet 3. It shows 18 such clips, spaced 4" apart, starting from one of the back/aft corners.

Right, but in the AIM it looks like the little clips are going to be visible and they shouldn't be when the seat is installed. I don't think i'm explaining my problem very well. thanx. s

Steve, The clips attach to the frame 'under' the cover.
The upholstery cover then goes over the frame (cushioned by the protector felt) and pushes into the clips on the inside of the frame.
Look at View A on that page in the AIM
.
