Default 58 - Headlight retainer question

What kind of screws hold in the stainless retainer rings on the headlights...are they sheet metal or machine thread?

Oval head screws . They are NOT a machine screw thread (not #8-32 for example).

You can get stainless ones at ACE hardware.

Can't remember if they are #8 or #10 size.

Thanks. I'm a big fan of stainless. I'm using stainless screws, washers, bolts, etc through out my car, except where structural strength is required.

Doug, I think you're thinking the chrome bezels to the buckets. Those are oval sheet metal type. I believe he's asking about the small screws that hold the retainers to the dogdishes. Those are machine screws.

Yes, I'm referring to the stainless "chrome looking" rings that you show Rich. I thought they looked threaded...but wasn't sure. Glad I haven't put any screws in yet.
