Default Rechrome Estimate

I can get the Wheel KO Spinners for about $30 each but they need to be re-chromed.
Since Ive never done a re-chrome before I was wondering roughly what these would cost?
The good thing is these are small enough to ship to re-chrome to someone outside of my area in CT.
Does it make sense to do it when C.A. has them for $106 each...

I would estimate $30-40 each to rechrome but with shipping it might be cheaper to buy them new.

More than that I'm afraid, for #1 quality in the Northeast.

D & S plating in Holyoke MA is as good as plating gets, anywhere, especially small parts.

Why not send a picture of both sides to a plater and ask?

I'm thinking the prep work is where you might get into spending some serious coin on a rechrome job.

It all comes down to the quality of each part. The quality of the one's you can buy, versus the quality of the aftermarket items. Most likely the aftermarket items will be shipped from China. The older one's may have still been made in the USA, and once re-chromed may be a better product.

I know I have spent more on my original parts to have them re-chromed versus purchasing the new aftermarket items shipped in.

Personally, I would rather spend a bit more on quality and ensure I obtain a nice chrome job!

I think I would do as others suggest here, take a pic and send them to the chrome-plater of your choice for an estimate.

Pat

For quality triple plate, you will pay around 80-100 a piece. Thanks to the EPA, it costs a lot for quality chrome now. We will be lucky if anybody still does it in another 10 years. You had best get your quality chrome while you can!

If they are original far better quality then repro, plus how would know the repro will fit as threads maybe slightly different etc, better to restore then replace
I was at plater this week, cost for spinners is approx $135 each.
I use Librandi's in Harrisburg PA., they do a lot of auto chrome restoration. Phone is 717-944-9442

with no part number identification on back you are probably looking at an aftermarket part, the seller is in corvette parts business and certainly knows they are not original just look at choice of words
You many be spending good $ to plate them and not be original. so you will have expensive after market spinners when done
You maybe better off and post a WTB thread in Parts section on forum at least you are dealing in most cases with other corvette owners

If you're willing to ship outside your local area, you could always get a quote from Artistic Silver Plating, 2344 Orange Ave, Signal Hill, CA 90755 (562-427-0113). These guys used to do the plating for the show, "Overhaulin" (Chip Foose) on Velocity. They probably aren't going to be cheap, but do offer good quality.

Roger is correct on this!! He is a Corvette seller, so he knows exactly what he has.

Best to be patient and find a nice set of originals. Probably will cost a bit more, but it's money well spent.

If you go the CA route make sure they have them. There has been a backlog on orders in the past due to quality issues. Made somewhere in Asia.

Expect to wait a few months if you go for it.

I have to agree with this Gentleman's advice, why throw good money at bad parts. And maybe its just the angle of the picture, but in the very first one of all four, the one on the upper right just doesn't look right to me, seems to have a ridge or lip around the edge of the wings. The description also says one of them does not have the "OFF" stamped in it, that could be on the one with the lip, and therefore it would seem it's not a correct part of the set.

Just my opinion, I have knockoffs, but I'm no expert. Good luck with your search.....
