There is nothing wrong with the riveted shoes - just a different attachment technique.
You'll get 10s of thousands of miles out of those shoes with light braking.... You'll be fine for years....check them when you repack the front wheel bearings as per maintenance schedule.

Riveted shoes I actually prefer to bonded. They do not delaminate. They have about as much usable 'meat' as a bonded does, before minimum thickness is reached. Still have the born-with riveted rear shoes on my '83 Toyota 4x4....at 270,000 miles. The original owner gave me a box of replacement shoes when I bought the truck 23 years ago. He never needed them. I haven't yet, either! So yeah, riveted shoes can last a long time!

the mystery of the longer versus shorter spring hold down pins included in the overhaul kit may be solved too: the back shoes ar narrower than the front shoes, hence can take the shorter pins. Makes sense?
