Show Me Your 53-60 Custom Trunk Please
I am in the final stages of my 56 Resto-Mod build and I am looking for ideas on how to finish off the inside of my trunk. If you did something custom in your 53-60 Corvette trunk and or have any how you did it guidance I would appreciate seeing pictures and hearing any guidance.
As you can see from my trunk I had to flatten out the spare tire area to make room for exhaust and IFS rear end. I also had to make some tunnels for my exhaust to go over my axle so I may have to square off the area closest to the gas tank. I still need to install a small hinged cover over the last part of my wheel well as soon as I finish installing the electric parking brake.
At this point I am planning on making some hard backer boards and wrapping them with vinyl for the two sides and back. Still not sure what to do on the floor.
These are two clean looks I found.

custom trunk pics , did this for $42
1/4 " thick rubber mat from Menards, 1 yard of black vinyl, and some clips from home depot to hold jack pieces [I already had the luan board and some foam and hidden clips. I fabbed brackets that use the taillight bezel studs to hold the side pieces and rivetted a simple 90 degree bracket over the existing cardboard holder brackets to hold the front of the side pieces [might eventually put carpet over the bottom rubber]

Even though I know you ask for just 53 through 60 trunks I thought I'd pitch what I did on mine in case you might want to use some ideas.
All of my panels are cut out hardboard with pleated black vinyl. The side panels come out and I can carry a 12X12 pop up canopy. i don't carry a spare but instead have a styrofoam cooler and all cleaning suppliers,12v air pump and plug kit. i have polished new drive-in speakers wired to a remote FM/sd card reader for music if I want it. Also the one of the Corvette emblems is back lit with remote red LEDs that have three modes. Under the trunk i have my old scratched trunk emblem mounted on pleated black vinyl with white LEDs that are hooked to my courtesy lights. My outside trunk corvette emblems has three LEDs that light up when you step on the brakes.

Another thing I forgot to add. I used a 70-81 wire trunk remote so I don't have to use a key for trunk opening so I don't get scratches on my chrome.

Some very cool trunks and great ideas!
I went ahead and ordered material to match my interior from Al Knoch for the side and rear panels and I ordered 2 yards of Red/Black tuxedo carpet from ACC. Now I have to get creative, or just pay someone to be creative. Not sure which one yet

Thanks for all of the pics and ideas. I finally quit procrastinating and I took the car over to my interior guy and this is what we came up with.
I ordered matching vinyl from Al Knoch and I ordered 2 yards of tuxedo carpet from ACC and dropped the car off with my interior guy and this is what we came up with.
My trunk was a little strange because I had to make two tunnels in my floor for my exhaust pipes to router over the axle. I had him install carpet around the edges but I had him do the floor portion as a removable floor mat in the tuxedo with bound edges.
Floor Carpet not bound yet.

The real question here is "What size tire are you using for a spare?" Everyone with a straight axle knows why that's a serious question.
