When do you use paint primer for frame items?
Just curious, I ordered paint to do the various frame items (differential, gas tank straps, trailing arms, ect...).
Most of the stuff will be Black semi gloss 1613 paint, or, Cast Blast paint.
So do I use these paints directly to the various parts, or, do I use primer, then paint it with these paints?
Words of wisdom please. Love to here anyone thoughts....

A specialized primer that provides better adhesion for the top coat by "etching" the metal base. Eastwood sells one. There are others. http://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-s-s...imer-gray.html
The DP90 Epoxy Primer mentioned by PROJECT63 is the preferred primer for larger items like the frame. For best adhesion of the top coat, you apply the topcoat in a certain time window before the epoxy fully cures. The primer and topcoat then chemically and mechanically bond and become "one" coating. Excellent adhesion. You can also use it for smaller things, but you will waste a lot of material and do a lot of gun cleaning (or use a Preval disposable spray system......which I have done many times). http://www.homedepot.com/p/Preval-9-...-267/202533738
