In the picture you see my finger holding the rear window channel. Question is, how does the end of it fit the door. If you notice picture the outer side fits nicely into the door seal. Does the side in question go into the door panel seal where I have the drill bit stuck into. I know I’m missing the corner reinforcement but not sure if this part is even needed. The AIM does not show any detail, at least that I can find. Pictures would help, thanks

Its not a real nice transition....you have the piece in the first photo about right but it appears bent up some....see my first picture.
That's a brand new Al Knoch deluxe door panel in the last two pics BTW...
You can see from the angles in the last picture there is no way those two stainless trim pieces will ever meet.
It is what it is....

So if I cut mine off where the blue tape is I should be OK. It's bend because they had it somehow tucked under the door panel. I should be able to bend it straight. The way your channel is, is that the way the old channel was before you replaced it. I still do not know the purpose of the Coupe Window Channel Metal Corner Reinf part # 42-47A in catalog LICSI. Looks like you do not have it either.

The whole deal with the window garnishes on '63 coupes is strange. I also do not have the corner piece... Most of our cars have repurposed later garnishes but I've heard the correct ones will soon be reproduced - who knows...
One tip....make damn sure there are no sharp edges on that cut off piece of stainless at the transition and curving it away slightly as rtruman shows will prevent possibly scratching the window glass when it rolls up/down...

Like so many other parts of a '63, that rear run channel went through a design revision in mid-year. Late '63 rear run channels are the same as used in later years but early '63 rear run channels are unique.
You fellers aren't by chance, trying to adapt late channel to early doors or vice versa, are you?
And, no, I don't know when the change-over happened. My old coupe was #7587 (R.I.P.) and had the 1st design channel. That's all I know.

I have a late May 63 car and the channels are repros so, they are what they are. The passenger side fit horribly and you have to move the mounting pins to even get the thing in the door frame. Pretty sorry *** repro part IMO. I don't think there is a separate repro for early '63 so its one size fits all now.
The gray Sharpee marks show where the pins SHOULD be

In some other thread sometime I'll talk about the strange transition of the '63 rear valence. From overlapping the tail light panel horizontally at the top to running vertically down even with the quarter panels at the bottom -- almost guarantees a sloppy fit...
Weird design decisions...

Yup. And yours fits nicer than a lot of them...
I was over a Corvette buddy's house today and he looked at my SWC channels and the repops have the corner piece (or a facsimile) molded in as part of the piece which is what I thought I remembered -- so no separate corner piece with those repros.
Long Island may have a more correct repro but I haven't personally checked yet.

Crude but it worked. I had to flatten it and bend around the door frame and let the door panel hold it in place. The stainless steel bead was bend and would not stay in place without doing this.

And here is how Long Island Corvettes claim the transition should be made - this picture is straight from their web site....it actually makes mine look pretty bad - another project I guess...

I can not tell what they have done. Is the end of the steel bead stuck behind the door panel.

I can't tell either.

Went to a car show to see how they fixed the weather strip on the C2 coupes. On all coupes that were newer then 63, the stainless bead was cut off like frank's. The only 63 there looked like rtruman's car but instead on cutting the bead off, it was ran under the fuss material that was on the door panel, like I'm assuming long island shows. I asked him how he did it and he said he had to open up the door fuzz a bit to get the bead under it. I could never do this on my car because the fuzz part on the door panel is not in line with the steel bead to make a straight path for the bead. I will just settle for what I have.
