Need some knowledgeable eyes....
Looking at a 66 on eBay. Lots of great pics and video. I'm primarily a shark guy but I picked up that the tach is wrong. Obviously the ZZ4 isn't right, nor is the hood (although I lIke it). I need some of you smart midyear guys to have a look and see if you find any red flags.
Let me know what you think...While youre sitting there

that link is for ebays home page. here is the correct link
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221866980617?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D221866980617%26_rdc%3D1
my issue is the old pictures show what looks to have the original engine in the frame. where is it now? and why no pictures of the trim and vin tag?

Seller sent me pics of the trim tag and VIN. I decoded it as an original silver/silver car. Googled the VIN and nothing came up.
Don't know where the original engine is but it's not with the car.

that is a shame silver on silver is a great color combo, you can't swing a dead cat at a car show and not hit a red on black vette. try finding a silver on silver car

Silver/silver is fantastic. I love it. Wife loves red. Paint/body is too nice to change back. I'm looking for a turnkey driver that needs little but still let's me scour the swap meets to ways to improve.

To me this change over is a 20k mistake. And at this point like you said no use to change it back now. So now you have a color change, and NOM. the options help but now it's pointless to say they add to the value. After looking at a bunch of mid years at Corvettes at Carlisle last weekend and the crazy stupid prices people were asking for average cars with issues the BIN price seems very reasonable. Do they have any pictures before paint? Shiny new paint hides a lot of mistakes

Not a big issue, but that fan needs to be much further into the shroud. I'd bet it heats up at idle.

Consider this. Can you buy a 66 vert for 35K needing a full resto? Yeah sure.
Can you spend 17K more and make that car? Hmmmm.
Also has "best offer" feature so maybe offer in high 40's gets it.

Burning Brakes
Not to sound nitpicky but, the ammeter needle shouldn't behave the way it does (jumping all over the place) in the video showing the dash while the engine is running. Otherwise a beautiful NOM ride IMO.

Overall, from what I can see here, it's not a "run Forrest, run" type of car.
If someone wants an NCRS -type car, that one would cost too much to make right, ($$$ to restore original colors) if you even could (engine).
But from the pics it looks like a decent driver; however, it would require a thorough going-over to be sure.

Reached an agreement with the seller and I'm happy with the price. I now own my first midyear! Of course now I need to sell my two chrome bumper shark convertibles to make room in the garage and bank account.

Its a nice looking car and a classic color combo (although not original)...I just hope the price was fair and the frame is good...

He sent pics of the chassis. Even though the frame-off was some time ago, everything looked pretty fresh. Apparently it has spent all/most of its life in florida. No reason to expect frame issues.
Price was substantially lower than the BIN.
No, it'll never be NCRS but I'm not an NCRS guy. My 69 L71 is a body off resto (by me). It was done for mechanical integrity. Not historical perfection. I drive em!
