Default hood repair

One of the four hinge holes on the passenger side of my 65 hood has a stripped thread. What is the best way to repair this problem?

Simple thing to do is a heli-coil. E-Z.

I'm almost hesitant to weight in on this - the plate inside the hood is not very thick I don't think. You could try thread repair kit (Helicoil) and coat it with epoxy to help anchor it, before running it into the over-drilled & tapped hole. Another thought is a nutsert which I think could work. Just have to be real careful overdrilling the hole out.

If not overly concerned about appearances you might be able to tap the hole for the next marginally larger metric bolt - an option, but not one most would use.

There are thread repair epoxies out there but I just can't believe they would work and hold up.

I think another name for these is riv-nuts if you decide to look into them.

I fixed the problem. I inserted a metric M8 X 1.00 bolt into the bad hole.
I know you purists will not like this but my car is not NCRS.
