Default Using drill to check 1962 tachometer?

Tach not currently hooked up and not running Tach driven distributor. Want to check the tach's operation like you can check the speedometer. What direction should the drill be run, I know on a speedometer it has to run in reverse to get a reading. Don't want to peg the needle the wrong way if the tach turns out to be functioning.

Run the drill in reverse - the tach is just a speedo with a different face.
