Understanding "the wave".......

I would like the 3 seconds of my life back I spent considering if there was anything I care about less than getting waved at by some check-writing, modern vette owner.
There isn't.

Nice generalization. So, if I met you on the road in my 66, you would wave but if we met while I was driving my 16 you would not? Makes sense.

Not all of them. Some even constantly brag how much they drive them. Not complaining though. If it wasn't for "those who can't" there wouldn't be anyone to pay "us who can" to work on their cars.

I think you nailed it. If the hand on the steering wheel has nails nicer than my wife's then I won't be expecting a wave

I wave to all generations. If they wave back, fine. If they don't, that's fine too, I don't lose a moment's sleep over it.

I have the same attitude. My Dad bought a 1960 in 1965. That was my introduction to the wave. He has had Corvettes off and on since. Some have been classics, some have been new.
I bought my 1966 in 1986 and took a couple of years to restore it. I have waved to any Corvettes I meet each time I have driven it for the last 30 years.
I wrote a check for a 2016 last summer. I have waved at every Corvette I meet in it as well. I have not really seen a difference it the percentage of people who wave back in either the 1966 or the 2016.
If someone waves back fine, if not fine.

Another factor - I think someone mentioned it above or maybe in another thread. As we are driving we are (or should be) keeping an eye out in all directions for hazards and conditions. There have been a couple times when I am paying attention to some little old lady changing lanes, checking my gauges or something else, and then realize I just passed a Vette without waving. Oh well - safety first!.

Someone on this forum described driving a C1 as a one-car parade. I get waves from many, not just corvette drivers. A lot of women around 60 get all bubbly, one told me her college boyfriend had one back in the day.
When I was driving 911s, especially the turbo (best car I ever owned) the other 911 drivers would wave most of the time.
